ENGAGING EMPLOYEES USING 5C'S
ENGAGING EMPLOYEES USING 5C'S
Many
companies use the 5C strategy to increase employee engagement.
5C
Strategy
- Care
- Connect
- Coach
- Contribute
- Congratulate
(Clarke, 2015)
Care
When the employees realize the
employer takes care of them and their personal well-being, they
get motivated. Everybody likes to be cared for. That’s human nature. When
employers identify this and treat their employees with care, employee
engagement and retention rates will increase.
Connect
Employers have to take care of their employees. By having informal discussions with employees, an employer can identify the feelings and issues of those employees. The performance appraisal discussions also help to ensure that they will be satisfied with the working environment. It will help to build a strong relationship between employer and employee.
Coach
Employer should have the ability to coach and
guide their employees. Autocratic leadership is not a successful leadership
style in modern HR culture. Employee retention rate and employee happiness
increase by coaching and guiding them with a positive approach. It will help to
encourage employees for their carrier development.
Contribute
Employers should give employees
a chance to contribute to company business decisions. With their experience and
exposure within the company, the employees can have practical and innovative
ideas. If employers always welcome employees to express their ideas, they feel
they will be recognized by the company. This will increase employee engagement.
Congratulate
People like to be recognized.
When an employee does something excellent or provides a service beyond their
expected level, their employer should praise or congratulate them in front of
co-workers. This will help increase an employee’s self-confidence and give
other co-workers a morale boost. Always praise in public and give advice for
improvement in private.
By following these strategies,
it will help employees work in a happy working environment. Then employee engagement
will increase, which will help to improve and develop the service levels and
increase profits of the company. Finally, the employee and employer both get
benefits.
